Hagerstown Community College baseball is beginning this 2026 spring season at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC) in Vero Beach, FL. A Hawks Baseball tradition for many years, the team has been traveling south for the season start, and since playing at the JRTC, HCC has had the opportunity to play against teams from the NCAA, NAIA, USCAA and NJCAA.
The Hawks kicked things off playing two four year, NCAA college programs on March 5th, sporting good showings in both games. In the 10-2 win over Albright State College (JV), Hagerstown had a combined 11 hits out of 30 at bats, with 10 RBIs and 5 stolen bases and the 15-9 win over Capital University reflected 12 hits out of 29 at bats, with 13 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. March 6th and 7th, the Hawks spilt with the Fort Lauderdale Stars, with the only season loss (7-3)so far. On Saturday, March 7th, HCC rebounded to win 15-5. Sunday, March 8th, HCC faced Penn State Mont Alto (USCAA) for a scheduled doubleheader, winning game one with a combined 10 hits out of 27 at bats, 10 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. The second game vs Mont Alto was delayed due to weather, and will be played on Thursday, March 12th. Yesterday, the Hawks took two from Penn State Greater Allegheny (USCAA) winning 14-3 in game one, with 12 hits out of 24 at bats, 14 RBIs, one stolen base, and winning the second game 9-2, with 8 hits out of 30 at bats, 8 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Hawks pitching is holding its own and looking strong, along with the team fielding percentage.
Today's match-up is against NJCAA Region 20 / MD JUCO opponent Chesapeake College, followed by tomorrow's game vs. Penn State Mont Alto, and Thursday's games vs. Penn State York (USCAA) along with the completion of Sunday's DH with Penn State Mont Alto. The Hawks wrap up the Florida tour with Trinity College on Friday, March 13th, before heading back to Hagerstown on Saturday.
