On Saturday, August 28th, Hagerstown CC hosted Christendom College, Front Royal, VA, and the momentum in this match shfited back and forth between the Hawks and Crusaders throughout the full 90 minutes of play.
Christendom struck first, 12 minutes into the match, with Hagerstown answering on a goal from Madison Milburn (14) assisted by Diana James (9) just one minute later. With 26 minutes left in the first half, the Crusaders scored again to push their lead to 2-1. Milburn answered with her second goal at the 30 minute mark, on an assist by Leah Stevens (18), evening the match at 2-2 at halftime. The Crusaders added a third goal to take the lead and the win with eight minutes remaining.
Christendom had 9 shots on goal, Hagerstown had 17 shots on goal, and Hannah Hoffman (8) had 6 saves. "The team is playing better each game, " offered Coach Clifton Williams. "As we stand at 0-3 on the season, we are still building chemistry. I feel the team will bounce back quickly from this loss, and the hard work that each player has shown, coupled with desire and dedication, will definitely pay off with 14 games still to play on the schedule."
The Hawks next match will be Tuesday, September 7th, hosting Howard Community College at 4:00 p.m.
