Hawks ranked 8th in the nation as of October 6th USTFCCCA Poll

Hagerstown CC Men's Cross Country started this season with a goal to better the successes of fall 2020. After their performances of the past two weekends, there is little doubt as to the team's common dedication to this goal.
This past Saturday, October 9th, the Hawks placed in the top five spots to score 15 as a team with an average time of 27:09. Schools competing in the race included McDaniel College (29:37), Lancaster Bible College (31:04), Immaculata College (33:02), Keystone College (35:34), Cairn University (35:34), and Gallaudet University (39:07).
Leading the way was Henry Schmidt who won the Goucher Coach Caslin Classic 8K race with a time of 26:39.9. Zane Chalker finished behind Schmidt with a time of 26:52.2, followed by teammates David Butts (27:02.7), Trent Overcash (27:31.6), and Gabe Conder (27:41.1). Hawks Ryan Rasco (29:41.6), Mario Martinez (32:24.7), Jaron Pearson (35:36.3), finished in 10th, 29th and 43rd places respectively in a field of 67 runners. On October 2nd, Hagerstown won the 33rd Don Cathcart 8K Invitational at Salisbury University with an average time of 26:11. Competing schools included Salisbury University (26:47), Wilmington University (DE) (28:27), Delaware State University (28:51), Stevenson University (29:12), University of Maryland Eastern Shore (29:26), Mansfield University (PA) (30:52), Anne Arundel CC (31:43), Hood College (31:44), Delaware Tech CC (32:50), CCBC Essex (34:59), and Gallaudet (40:08). Hawks Henry Schmidt and Zane Chalker tied at the finish to win the race with a time of 25:16.1, beating out Albert Norman from Delaware State (25:33.3), and Jason Cave from Salisbury University (25:55.6). Trent Overcash finished 5th with a time of 26:31.1. Teammates Gabe Conder (26:52.2), David Butts (26:59.8), finished 9th and 11th respectively, and Ryan Rasco (28:41.2), Mario Martinez (32:37.4), and Jaron Pearson (33:07.9) finished 30th, 69th and 75th respectively in a field of 104 runners.
Following the Cathcart Invitational meet, the Hawks moved from 15th to 8th in the USTFCCCA (US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) NJCAA Division I National Coaches Poll for Week #3. For poll results USTACCCA Coaches Poll.
