Hawks building with strong freshman foundation

Hagerstown Volleyball opens the 2023 season on Wednesday, August 23rd against the Howard Community College Dragons at 6:00 p.m. in the ARCC.

The all-freshman squad is comprised of talent from the tri-state area to include setter/defensive specialist, Kylie Hahn (2) (Hedgesville High School), setter/opposite hitter, Paige Elliott (4) (Martinsburg High School), outside hitter/middle blocker, Kylie Snyder (6) (Smithsburg High School), outside hitter/opposite hitter, Delaney Long (7) (Boonsboro High School), defensive specialist/Libero, Alexis Mackrell (11) (Smithsburg High School), defensive specialist/libero, Everly Harsh (12) (Williamsport High School), middle blocker/outside hitter, Kayla Turner (14) (North Hagerstown High School) and defensive specialist/setter, Autumn Scahill (15) (Waynesboro Area Senior High School).

In her second season, Sierra Hill is returning as Head Coach of the Hawks, along with Assistant Coach, Dany Hoffman. "Following my first actual recruiting season, it has definitely been challenging learning the ropes, but also very rewarding when things have worked out in our favor," commented Hill when asked about her recruiting class. "Washington County is big for volleyball, so when we ended up becoming a home to a number of strong players, it definitely bolstered a sense of accomplishment. We even have a couple of out-of-state girls which makes the mix of the team even better and more diverse...which is exciting."

Following the 2022 abbreviated season, Hill is optomistic based upon her team's talent and practices leading into this fall, "There's definitely been a sense of pressure mounting through the recruiting months and in just coaching as a whole. This season is a 100% building year for the program. HCC has always been well known for volleyball, and as a coach, it definitely puts a little bit of pressure on you, however I am confident in the foundation we are building and it's nothing but up from here."
