Hagerstown CC Women's Soccer (5-9-1) traveled to Scranton PA on Tuesday for an out of conference matchup against Lackawanna CC (3-0-0).
Despite Hagerstown's aggressive attack, forcing the Falcons to play deep within their defense through much of the first half, Lackawanna scored in the twenty-fourth minute on an unassisted goal by Gwendolyn Langley (#14). The Hawks increased attacks, and kept the Falcons on their heels, and in the thirty-third minute, Leah Stevens (#18) scored her first goal of the season on an assist by Mikaila Ek (#7). Ek scored the winning goal in the forty-fourth minute to defeat the Falcons 2-1.
Following the game, Coach Clifton Williams stated, "I was very excited to see the team go out and take care of business. In the second half, we took total control of the game, allowing only two shots on goal by the undefeated Falcons. Marissa Fouke (#21) played keeper with five saves out of six shots on goal, and we had a game total of twenty-three shots at the Falcon's goal. Congratulations to Leah Stevens on her first goal of the season."
The next up for the Hawks will be the NJCAA DI quarterfinal playoff on October 29th at Montgomery College, Rockville, starting at 1:00 p.m.
Let's Go Hawks.
