Hawks top Penn State Mont Alto 2-1

Hagerstown CC Women's Soccer (4-8-1) traveled to Penn State Mont Alto (2-4-0) on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. game against the Nittany Lions.
Fourteen minutes into the game, Kayda Shives (#4) scored for the Hawks on an assist by Marissa Fouke (#21). The Hawks attacked again in the twenty-first minute as Diana James (#9), on another Fouke assist, sprinted from midfield to attack the Nittany Lion's goal to increase the Hawk's lead to 2-0. Hagerstown outshot Mont Alto twelve to three in the first half, with Hawks goalkeeper, Delanie Dudley (#34) saving three attempts on goal to hold the Nittany Lions scoreless in the first half.
Hagerstown continued offensive pressure in the second half, however at the eighty-fourth minute committed a foul inside the box that gave the Nittany Lions a goal off of the penalty kick by Madison Eberly (#2). Hagerstown came away with the 2-1 win, Delanie Dudley made eight saves out of nine shots on goal, and the team combined for a total of fourteen shots on goal for the game.
Coach Clifton Williams commented, "The team took control of the game from the start whistle. They were focused and ready to work and communication played an important part in how they played together. We connected the dots and made it easy to attack the defense to create many scoring opportunities. Today was a good day for the Lady Hawks as we won the fifth game of the season."
