Hagerstown CC women's soccer (0-2-1) hosted Frederick Community College(0-2-0) yesterday afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. match at Hawks Field.
The Cougars attacked in the early minutes of the game, with the first shot on goal. With Hawks adjustments between the midfielders and the backline and increased player communication, Hagerstown stepped up intensity of play. Overseeing the entire field, goalkeeper, Delanie Dudley (#32) created a voice to organize and lead her teammates. The defense and midfield took control of the game, allowing the offense to be creative in making opportunities to attack the Cougar's defensive line. With the Hawk's penetration of the final third of the field, Madison Milburn (#14) scored in the 33 minute mark, assisted by Marissa Fouke (#21) and Chloe Bolland (#10), giving the Hawk's the lead at the end of first half. The Hawk's had four shots on goal to the Cougars three at the half.
In the second half, Hagerstown continued putting pressure on the Cougars, creating more chances at scoring opportunities. The Hawk's finished the game with a 1-0 win and outshot the Cougars ten to one in the second half.
Back for her first game this season, returning sophomore, Delanie Dudley (#32) had four saves and her first shutout game of the 2022 season.
Head Coach Clifton Williams, stated "This was a very physical and tough game, and I am proud of the team for working hard for one another. It was a good challenge and the players handled it very well. This is a great win for the Hagerstown CC Women's soccer program as we continue to get better with each game."
