Bio

Cindy Wilhelm accepted the Head Women's Basketball Coaching position the beginning of March 2024, and has hit the ground running in her pursuit to revitalize the HCC Women's Basketball Program back to prominence.

A native of Frederick County, MD, Wilhelm first played organized basketball in middle school in 1992, and fell in love with the game. She played point guard for the Governor Thomas Johnson Patriots, graduated valedictorian of her class in 1998, and still holds the all-time leading scorer record at the high school to this day. Earning a full athletic scholarship to NCAA DII California University of PA, Wilhelm was voted PSAC Freshman of the week three times during her first season, leading her team in assists, and as a sophomore for the Vulcans, Wilhelm lead the team in 3 point shots made.

Her coaching career spans 20 years of middle school girls basketball in Frederick County, 6 years of assistant coaching for Linganore High School girl's field hockey, and three years of coaching girls basketball at Brunswick High School, Brunswick, MD prior to accepting the head coaching position at HCC.

The owner of Cutting Edge Contracting, a general contracting company in Frederick, MD, Wilhelm holds a real estate license and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from California University of PA. She is the mother of five children, Paige (23), Evan (21), Carmen (20), Payton (18) and Troy (16), and her husband of 20+ years, Steve Wilhelm, lost his battle with cancer in July 2020.
