Hagerstown Community College Women's Basketball is mid-February into games, standing at 12-10 overall and 7-4 in conference. To start the month, on February 4th, the Hawks rolled over the Baltimore City CC Black Panthers, taking a 23-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, building the lead to an 84-33 win. Briana King (23) had a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, plus 8 assists and 5 steals. Ella Bennett (13) added 19 points ( three 3pointers) 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals. Janae Bradley (20) also had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Andrea Elder (10) added 12 points and 5 blocks. Tyra Hobbs (5) and Kayla Dangerfield (4) both had 9 points, as this was Kayla's first game back from injury. Cylvia Prout (1) added 2 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Hagerstown showed strong team effort for the win.
Next up, HCC traveled to Anne Arundel CC on February 7th and once again, the team came out strong in the 1st quarter and never looked back. Andrea Elder and Briana King led the team with 22 points. Elder also added 9 rebounds, 7 blocks, 6 steals, and 3 assists. King added 9 steals, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Kayla Dangerfield added 16 points and 6 rebounds. Ella Bennett added 13 points with 3 3 pointers. Janae Bradley added 9 points and 17 rebounds. The Hawks came away with the win, 82-37.
The Hawks returned to the ARCC on February 9th to face Harford CC. The game was hard fought but the Fighting Owls pulled away with 3 minutes left in 3rd quarter. HCC was only down by 7 at half, however turnovers were the difference in the game and allowed Harford to pull away and ultimately take the win 91-60. Andrea Elder led the hawks with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 blocks. Briana King added 16 points, 9 assists and 7 points, and Janae Bradley added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
On Wednesday, February 11th, the Hawks at home again, struggled to find their shots, shooting 29%. Prince George's CC shooting percentage of 44% was the difference in the game. Briana King led the hawks with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Andrea Elder added 15 points and Janae Bradley had 10 rebounds in the 46-61loss to the PGCC Owls.
The Hawks play at home this Saturday, February 14th, when the Cecil College Seahawks come to the ARCC for a 2:00pm tip.
