Hawks Women battle back for win over rival Cougars

The Hagerstown CC women's basketball team hosted rival Frederick Community College at the AARC last night, in a Maryland JUCO conference game.  The two teams scrapped hard throughout the entire game with each team taking the lead multiple times. The Lady Hawks trailed by five with six minutes remaining in the game, fought back to regain the lead on baskets by Briana Alongi, Ashley Davis, and Lexie Henderson, and held on for a 71-66 victory. The Hawks were lead in scoring by Ashley Davis (32) with 29 points and Lexie Henderson (33) with 20 points. Other Hawks in the stat column were Skylar Geiser (20) with 9 points and Favor Okpali  (10) with 12 rebounds. 

Henderson and Davis, both Smithsburg graduates, lead the Hawks in scoring with averages of 11.4 and 14.4 points per game respectively.

Frederick was lead by Tiana Jackson's 18 points. Jessica Jensen and Aubrey Ryan scored 16 and 14 points respectively.

The Hawks are in action at home on Saturday, starting at 1:30 pm. against the Hawks of the College of Southern Maryland.
