FREDERICK, Md. — Chelsea Cover had 19 points, six assists and two steals to lead Hagerstown Community College to a season-opening victory over the Community College of Rhode Island on Sunday at Frederick Community College.
The Hawks led 29-21 at halftime and extended the lead to as much as 23 points in the second half. Rhode Island fought back with nine 3-pointers in the second half, but never seriously threatened.
Morgan Henderson had 10 points and seven rebounds, and Malerie Wratchford added 10 points, two steals and two assists for HCC. Hiyanna Keller grabbed nine rebounds.
