Big Offense in Game 2 leads to a Win
On March 29, the Hawks hosted Anne Arundel Community College for a double header in Softball.
Game 1 the Hawks lost 8-3, falling behind in the 2nd inning and not able to string together hits to rally for the rest of the game. Head coach Alicen Galanis said " We have struggled, collectively, getting our footing in our first game. Once we figure out the "funk" we are in we will be golden". Center fielder Bailey Wilson hit a solo home run and Adrianna Beeler pitched a complete game with 1 strikeout and just 1 base on balls.
Game 2 had a very different vibe for the Hawks. In the first inning the bats came out hot and they put 6 runs on the board. According to Galanis this is the first game this season the Hawks have taken a lead before the 6th inning. The Hawks add 6 more runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 5th innings combined to take the W, 12-8. Galanis commented " Execution is our motto for the season; and game two was executed better than past games. Bunts were placed well, base running improved; the overall strategy and mindset of the athletes availed". Standouts for game 2 were Payton Kendall going 2-3 with 2 RBIs, Cali Ricker going 2-4 with 2RBIs and Peyton Sheffler pitched a complete game with 4 strikeouts.
The Hawks traveled to WVU Potomac State College today (3/31) for a double header against the Catamounts in Keyser WV.
