NORTH EAST, Md. — Cierra Beaver pitched 5 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts in the opener, and Hagerstown Community College split a twinbill with Cecil College in the Maryland JUCO Region XX Division II best-of-three play-in series Saturday.
In the opener, Ki Wallace had double and three RBIs, Madi Renn had three hits, including a double, and Emily Talbert had two doubles, an RBI and pitched 1 2/3 innings of two-hit relief with two strikeouts to pick up the save.
In the five-inning shutout loss, Katlin Wolfe and Tiffany Stull each doubled for the Hawks (23-15).
Hagerstown and Cecil will play the rubber match Sunday at noon.
