Gabby Cook receives a House Resolution from the Maryland House of Delegates
On Monday, April 1, 2024, Hagerstown Community College Track and Field athlete, Gabby Cook, was invited by Delegate, Terry Baker, to the State of Maryland General Assembly meeting of the House of Delegates and formally recognized for winning the women's high jump competition at the NJCAA DI Men's and Women's National Indoor Track & Field Championships held in Gainesville, Florida on March 2, 2024. Accompanied by Assistant Track & Field Coach, Andy Reid, Assistant Cross Country Track & Field Coach Maria Spinnler, and Head Cross Country Track & Field Coach, Mike Spinnler, Cook received House Resolution #135 in front of the assembly during the meeting held at The Maryland State House in Annapolis.
A freshman, Cook won the women's high jump competition with a height of 1.73 meters, (5 foot 8 inches), at the NJCAA national championships in March. Holding the #1 NJCAA ranking since clearing a 5 foot 9 3/4 inch jump at the Virginia Military Institute Team Challenge on January 20th, Cook entered the championships ranked first and finished as the National Champion and also holds the HCC indoor high jump record.
