Reineman Sets New HCC Women's High Jump Record
The Hagerstown Hawks Outdoor Track & Field season is about to wrap up at the NJCAA Nationals on May 18-20th at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, NM.
However, leading up to the culmination of the season The Hawks had a few stand outs in their last few meets of the regular season. Josey Reineman and Gabrielle Cook, both high jumpers, made a clean sweep in their last 3 regular season meets. At the Loyola Invitational they tied for 1st with a height of 1.60 meters (5'3"). At the Paul Kaiser Classic Reineman took 1st with a height of 1.71 meters (5' 7.25"), Cook in 3rd at 1.65 meters (5'5"). The final meet, The Liberty Twilight Qualifier, Cook took 1st and Reineman 3rd, both with 1.62 meters (5' 3.75"). Additionally, at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier, two other Hawks took podium spots. Molly Brashears and Maggie Thompson went 1st- 2nd in the 3000 meter Steeplechase with times of 14:02.06 & 14:07.45, respectively.
Team Captain, Josey Reineman, probably has the most to celebrate about her final Outdoor Track season at HCC. At the Paul Kaiser Classic, Reineman jumped 1.71 meters (5' 7.25"), this was not only her personal best height, but it also set a new HCC Record in the Women's High Jump. To cap the achievement, Reineman's jump also earned her full scholarship to Huntington University's Track & Field Team in Huntington, Indiana, where she will be attending in the Fall.
