Chalker Sets HCC Record
The Hawks Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field team traveled to Virginia Military Institute for the VMI Winter Relays on January 28th and 29th.
Zane Chalker (Hagerstown, MD) finished 4th in the men's 5,000 meters setting an HCC indoor record for the first runner to ever run 5,000 meters in under 14:50. Chalker's official time of 14:49.45 is the number two NJCAA 5,000 time in the nation so far this indoor season. The first three finishers were two NCAA D1 runners and Milligan College's number one man, (Milligan College won the 2021 NAIA National Cross Country Championships two months ago). David Butts (Hagerstown, MD) also ran the men's 5,000 and finished 9th with a time of 15:35.08.
Ryan Rasco (Hagerstown, MD), Gabe Conder (Hagerstown, MD), Jaron Pearson (Hagerstown, MD), and Trent Overcash (Chambersburg, PA) came in 5th in the men's 4x800m relay with a time of 8:25.90.
Josey Reineman finished 9th in the women's high jump at 1.5M.
In the men's one mile, David Butts finished 7th with a time of 4:20.79, followed by teammates Zane Chalker, 14th with a time of 4:24.27, Gabe Conder 25th with a time of 4:35.70, Trent Overcash 45th with a time of 5:00.74, and Griffin Knipp (Williamsport, MD) 48th with a time of 5:16.22.
The Men's and Women's Track and Field team is back in action on February 11th and 12th when they travel to the Kenneth Giles Invitational, hosted by Norfolk State University, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, Virgina Beach, VA.
