Hawks Successful in Season Debut
The Hawks Mens Indoor Track and Field team opened up their season on Sunday January 9th at the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational at Shenandoah University.
The Hawks took first, second and third in the mens 3,000 meters event. David Butts (Hagerstown, MD) came in first place with a time of 8:39.17, Zane Chalker (Hagerstown, MD) came in second place with a time of 8:42.50 and Gabe Conder (Hagerstown,MD) came in third with a time of 9:19.20. Butts and Chalker not only qualifed for the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on March 4-5 in Pittsburg, Kansas, but they ran the fastest 3,000 meters time recorded by Hagerstown Community College student athletes since 1993.
Ryan Rasco (Hagerstown, MD) placed first in the Mens 800 meters with a time of 2:05.54 in his collegiate track debut. Griffin Knipp (Williamsport, MD) placed 13th in the Mens mile event with a time of 5:29.31.
The Hagerstown will be back in action on Saturday January, 15th at Christopher Newport University for the Captains Invitational.
