Hagerstown CC men's soccer took on the College of Southern MD in a conference matchup on Thursday in La Plata. Both teams created chances but no real threats in the first half of the match, and the score was level, 0-0, at halftime.
In the second half, Hagerstown pressed forward for a throw in, in the 63rd minute, but turned the ball over. Southern Maryland sprung quickly into a counter attack and were able to finish the opportunity to grab a 1-0 lead.
The Hawks responded by pressing numbers forward and creating chance after chance including 6 late corner kicks but couldn't capitalize on any of the opportunities, and the match finished 1-0 in favor of College of Southern Maryland.
"It's frustrating that it takes a goal for us to really start playing at the level we need to compete," said head coach CJ Trammell. "We have the skill to compete, but we've got to start the match with the same urgency we showed in the last 27 minutes of this match after conceding."
Christian Blazes finished with 8 saves on the day for the Hawks.
The Hawks will be back in action Saturday against Lackawanna at 2:00pm.
