Hawks run out of time against CSM
HAGERSTOWN, Maryland - Hagerstown Community College's men's basketball team took on the College of Southern Maryland on Saturday the 14th in a neck-and-neck game. At the half, the Hawks were down by five (35-30), battling back to take the lead with nine minutes left in the game (53-51). Slowly widening the gap with just over five minutes left, Hagerstown was up by four (64-60), when Southern Maryland started to make a comeback.
With only 01:11 left in the game, Southern Maryland took back the lead (71-68), forcing Hagerstown to foul within the last 45 seconds and give up six points to end the game with a score of 77-69.
Alan Kane (23) was the Hawks leading scorer with a total of 21 points, shooting 3-3 from 3 point range. Eric Bass ended up with 13 points and went 5-6 in free throws. Trent Walker was the leading rebounder with six, five of which were defensive. The team shot an impressive 50% from the three-point line.
The Hawks next game will be at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th at Skipjack Arena in Wye Mills, MD vs. the Chesapeake College Skipjacks. The Skipjacks have a record of 13-3 and the Hawks have a current record of 8-9.
