Hagerstown CC men's basketball won two straight this past week to bring their overall record to 7-8 and 2-3 in the conference. The Hawks won 74-64 over the CCBC Cardinals in Catonsville on Thursday evening, with freshman shooting guard, Alan Kane (23), leading the Hawks in scoring with 20 points. The Hawks shot 43.3% from the floor in the first half, with Kane making two key 3 point hoops to give Hagerstown the lead at halftime. Both teams battled shot for shot eight minutes into the second half, until Hagerstown went on a 17-0 scoring run, with all Hawk starters rebounding, making layups, steals and jumpshots to take the score to 56-42 with a little over 10 minutes left in the game. Catonsville battled back to close the gap to 63-57 with a minute to go in the game, but the Hawks made free throws to hold onto the lead and pull down the win. Kristoff Hayden (10) scored 19 off the bench for the Hawks, with Eric Bass (22) scoring 14 and Trent Walker (15) scoring 5, with 9 rebounds.
Earlier in the week Hagerstown hosted the Nighthawks from Northern Virginia Community College, winning the matchup 73-53. The Hawks never gave up the lead in this game, shooting 42% from the floor, 31.3% from 3 point range, out-rebounding NOVA 53-37, with the Nighthawks turning the ball over 21 times to Hagerstown's 18. Alan Kane (23) led the Hawks with 18 points, while Trent Walker (15) scored 17 and pulled down 13 rebounds. Ethan Smith (21) scored 9 with 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.
