Hawks Jim Brown Classic home opener rally comes up short against Monroe

Hagerstown Community College men's basketball played their first home game of the season against the Monroe Mustangs in the Jim Brown Classic at the ARCC on Saturday, November 27th. The Hawks started strong, taking the early lead over the Mustangs, only to see the lead errode, with Monroe up by 5 at the half, 36-31. The Hawks continued to battle for the lead in the second half, coming up short for a final score of Monroe 70, Hagerstown 62. Kyree Ellis (12) lead the Hawks with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 steal, followed by Malik Jordan (3) scoring 12, pulling down 5 rebounds and stealing 3, and Eathen Williams (2) adding 11 points, 1 steal and one blocked shot.
The Jim Brown Classic continued at the ARCC on Sunday, November 28th, with the Allegany College of Maryland Trojans facing off against the Mustangs. Monroe beat the Trojans, 89-72, coming out of the classic with two road victories.
The Hawks (2-6 overall, 0-1 in conference) play at home on Wednesday, December 1st at 7:30 p.m., hosting the Harcum Bears from Bryn Mawr, PA.
