Hagerstown CC (10-5) arrived home on Sunday from a string of games played in Vero Beach, FL and hit the ground running on Tuesday against the Eastern Mennonite University JVs in Harrisonburg, VA.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Hawks jumped out to a 9 run lead in the top of the first, with the Royals answering with 5 earned runs to close out the inning. Hagerstown's bats combined for a total of 14 hits, 19 runs batted in, 10 walks and only 3 strike outs to beat Eastern Mennonite 21-10. Leading the charge for the Hawks, Rhoan Bromfield had 5 RBIs off of 2 hits, along with Joshua Rush earning 4 RBIs off of 3 hits, and TJ Kalagher earning 4 RBIs off of 2 hits. Bromfield, Clapsaddle and Kalagher all hit home runs in the game as well. Michael Hawbaker got the win on the mound for Hagerstown.
Isaiah Reed pitched 5 innings in game two, facing 25 batters, giving up 3 earned runs off of 5 hits, with 4 walks, and striking out 4. The Hawks kept on swinging, with Josh Clapsaddle earning 4 RBIs off of 3 hits to include another home run. Noah Wiggins earned 3 RBIs off of 3 hits, and Cody Brick got 2RBIs off of a home run.
The Hawks take the field at home this afternoon, opening with a doubleheader against Scotland Campus starting at 3:00 p.m. and then hit the road for a conference doubleheader gainst CCBC Catonsville on Saturday starting at noon. Scotland Campus returns to Hawk Field on SUnday, March 20th for a doubleheader at noon.
