ESSEX, Md. — Geraghty Showe had two hits, including a two-run double in the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie, and Hagerstown Community College edged Essex in the opener of a doubleheader split on Saturday.
In the opener, Austin Moser hit a two-run homer in the sixth, Andrew Wenner and Quin Ambeault had two hits each, Colby Shimmel pitched seven innings with 12 strikeouts and Josh Colliflower pitched an inning of relief to pick up the save.
In the loss, Showe had two hits and an RBI for the Hawks (24-20), who scored their lone run in the first inning.
