The Hagerstown Lady Hawks beat Frederick in five sets (25-20), (22-25), (25-15), (22-25), (15-9).
Maddie Miller led the team with 23 assists, and Britney Malphurs had 14.
A back and forth affair saw the match come down to the last set.
"We are really proud of our girls,"Assistant Coach Brooke Morgan said. "They worked together to figure out how to get the points they needed to win."
The Hawks found out early just how good the Frederick team was at blocking and they had to adjust to the challenge.
"It took some trial and error for out team to work out how to get around them," Morgan said. "Our defense did an amazing job covering the hitters and picking up the block."
Great battles like this one always come with new challenges and adjustments that are needed for the next match and the Hawks identified some areas they need to work on.
"We definitely saw some things we need to work on to prevent the other team from getting the side out right away and preventing the opponent from getting a big lead," Morgan said. "Overall the team did a great job coming back from being down several times to take the win.
The Lady Hawk's next challenge will take place at home against The College of Southern Maryland on Wednesday September 18th at 6:00PM.
