Hawks Volleyball Starts Season Strong

Story by Phil Marshall

The Hagerstown Community College Hawks won their opener at home against the Howard Community College Dragons; (25-7), (25-11), (25-15).

The Hawks completed the three game sweep with 12 kills by Katie Morgan, 10 kills by Lexie Schlotterbeck, and 9 kills by Kiersten Erickson.

Maddi Miller had an astonishing 39 assists while Alyssa Shoemaker recorded 5 aces.

"We did well with putting the ball away and getting the point," Head Coach Rebecca Morgan said. "We averaged .500 on kills, which is excellent."

The Hawks are still working on player combinations and lineups that can help them be even better going forward.

"Overall, we are very pleased with how well the girls work together," Morgan said. "We have switched up the line-up multiple times and they continue to work hard."

The Hawks look to continue their momentum as they embark on a trip to Ohio to play four games in two days over the Labor Day Weekend at Owens Community College.

"We are looking forward to playing competitive teams outside our region," Morgan said.
