The Lady Hawks travelled to Montgomery College for a matchup in the MDJUCO Conference.
The Hawks started off slow as Montgomery started their scoring in the 3rd minute of the contest.
"We were working on compressing the field size to try to control the game," Head Coach Clifton Williams said. "The field size had a lot to do with compressing the game."
The Hawks couldn't capitalize on a bigger field. The field spacing was more than what the Hawks are used to.
Montgomery College excelled at putting the ball in space which created problems for Hagerstown.
"The Montgomery College players were extremely talented and knew what they had to do to be successful," Williams said. "They were much more prepared with the spacing on the field."
Even though Montgomery had control for most of the game, the Hawks never quit fighting.
Goalkeeper Bailey Burkett had 21 saves to lead the stat line for the Hawks.
"I was really proud of the effort despite the challenge with the field size," Williams said. "The talent of Montgomery College is the best we played this season and will make us better in the long run."
The Lady Hawks will have their first home match-up against Anne Arundel CC Tuesday September 17th at 2:00PM.
