Hawks ousted from NJCAA World Series

CLINTON, Miss. — Hagerstown Community College was eliminated from the NJCAA Division II World Series on Thursday in a 5-1 loss to Madison (Wis.) at Traceway Park.

The Hawks (36-11) had eight hits to five for Madison (42-11), but stranded several runners on base and committed three errors while Madison made only one error.

Madlyn McDonough and Victoria Oliver each had two hits and Elizabeth Churchman drove in the run for HCC. Kaitlyn Wolfe pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Emily Talbert, allowing one hit and striking out two.

Jordan Martin got the win for Madison, allowing one run and walking none while striking out six in a complete-game effort. Irene Tomasovic had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.
