The Hagerstown Community College softball team ended the 2018 season with an overall record of 24-17 and 13-5 in conference play. The team had a batting average of .349 and an on base percentage of .419.
After playing 8 games in Myrtle Beach and earning a record of 3-5, the Hawks returned home and went on a ten game win streak.
The home opener was against Anne Arundel Community College and the Hawks picked up two wins, 10-2 and 14-5. In this doubleheader Maddie Baker had 4 hits including a double, Madison Clark had 3 hits including a double with 2 RBI's, Maddie Renn had two hits with an RBI, Tiffany Stull hit a 3 run homerun, and Kaitlin Wolfe had 2 hits. Emily Talbert pitched the first game with 8 strikeouts and allowing only 3 hits. Beaver pitched a 5 inning second game which included 5 strikeouts.
After two easy wins against Anne Arundel Community College the Hawks played Mercyhurst North East which was a bit harder. The Hawks won 9-8; the team had a total of 12 hits. Emily Talbert pitched 5 innings with 5 strikeouts against Mercyhurst North East.
The Hawks travelled to the College of Southern Maryland where they picked up two wins, 11-4 and 5-3. At the end of these two games Madison Clark had 5 hits including a double and 3 RBI's, Madi Renn had 4 hits, Tiffany Stull and Kaitlin Wolfe both had 3 hits each, Elizabeth Churchman had 2 hits including a double, and Bridgette Ritchey hit a 2 run homerun. Emily Talbert pitched a complete game with a total of 9 strikeouts.
The Hawks earned two big wins at home in a sweep against Garrett College, 19-1 and 8-0. Talbert pitched a three-hitter with 6 strikeouts in the first game and Wolfe pitched a three-hitter with 3 strikeouts in the second game.
In an away doubleheader against Frederick Community College two more wins were earned by the Hawks, 6-1 and 2-0. Beaver pitched a complete first game with 4 strikeouts, while Talbert pitched a complete second game allowing only two hits.
After winning four games in a row the Hawks lost two games at home against Chesapeake College, 5-2 and 7-5 (9 innings). Beaver pitched a complete first game while also getting 2 hits including a double and 2 RBI's, Renn also had 2 hits.
Two wins were picked up against Montgomery College, 7-1 and 11-2. Cierra Beaver had 3 hits including a double, Madison Clark had 3 hits, Madi Renn hit 2 doubles, and Emily Talbert hit a homerun. Wolfe pitched a complete game allowing only 3 hits and had 6 strikeouts.
The Hawks played Potomac State College of WVU at home where they received two tough losses, 6-3 and 5-4. Kaitlin Wolfe had 5 hits including a double, Madi Renn had 3 hits including a double, Ki Wallace had two hits, Tiffany Stull hit a homerun, and Clark had a double with 1 RBI.
The Hawks ended regular season play with a sweep over Harford Community College, 7-0 and 7-3. Cierra Beaver pitched a one-hitter during the first game. Emily Talbert had a total of 13 strikeouts during the second game.
The Hawks travelled to Cecil College to play best of 3, winner advancing on to the region tournament. On Saturday they won the first game 5-2 but lost the second game 9-0, causing them to have to play a third game on Sunday. The Hawks won the third game 7-4, sending them to the region tournament the following weekend.
During the region tournament the Hawks played Chesapeake first, losing 5-3. Their second game was against Potomac State College of WVU, however ended their season with a tough loss against them 7-6.
