Hawks' Warnick 14th in NJCAA heptathlon


HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hagerstown Community College freshman Tiffany Warnick finished 14th in the women's heptathlon, held Thursday and Friday at the NJCAA Division I national championships at Gowans Stadium.

Warnick finished with 3,681 points. Her best event was the high jump, finishing sixth among heptathlon competitors by clearing 5 feet, 1 inch. She was ninth in the 800 in 2:40.35.

Warnick also ran the 100 hurdles in 17.81 seconds and the 200 in 27.32. She threw the shot put 28-4¾ and the javelin 73-11, and long jumped 15-2¾.

Hawks freshman Michael Belcher finished 16th in the men's shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 11¼ inches. He will compete in the discus Saturday.

Also competing Saturday for HCC are Jacob Pryor (men's pole vault) and Jason Hutzler (men's high jump).
