Hagerstown won on Thursday against Howard CC 2-1.
HCC was trailing at the half after Howard created a turnover deep in the Hawks half and jumped on a rebound from a low driven shot that was saved by goalkeeper Dido Lumu.
The Hawks trailed at the half 1-0.
The physical battle continue in the second half as both teams were creating chances.
Hagerstown capitalized in the 56th minute when Ja'Cobi Tolliver forced a turnover near midfield and played a pass over the Dragons back line.
Freshman Forward James Searcy received a pass behind the defenders and barreled down on the keeper after hitting his shot low and hard into the right corner to level the score at 1-1.
The battle continued when James Searcy found himself behind the Dragons defense but awkwardly pulld down in the penalty area.
Travis Bamfo converted on penalty kick giving the Hawks their first lead of the game in 83rd minute.
"I'm excited for our guys after this win," Head Coach CJ Trammell said. "We worked hard and believed in ourselves to get the results."
The Hawks would close out the remaining seven minutes to capture the 2-1 win.
"This game was physical and wasn't always pretty," Trammell said. "That's how soccer goes sometimes."
The Hawks will look to continue their momentum in their next match-up at Allegany College of Maryland on Tuesday October 8th at 4:00PM.
