HCC Men's Soccer Falls Short in Season Opener

Hagerstown Community College Men's Soccer started their 2019 campaign on Saturday against Northern Virginia Community College.

In the 27th minute, Safi Abadir beat his defender inside the box but was pulled down by the Nighthawks defensemen. Travis Bamfo Would then capitalize and score on the penalty shot to give the Hawks the lead. 

NOVA drew even with HCC in the 41st minute off a longball to found their forward who proceeded to tie the game.

Nova scored again in the 64th minute to take the lead.

The two continued to go back and forth when Safi Abadir struck a free kick hard into the bottom corner to tie the game.

In the 75th minute of the game, Hector Montufar got his second yellow card and was ejected from the game.

Seconds later, NOVA went on the man advantage and would take the lead shortly after.

HCC tried to respond but was unsuccessful. Dido Lumu finished with 5 saves on the day.

Final Score: NOVA 3 HCC 2.

The Hawks next matchup will be Tuesday August 27 at Carroll Community College at 4pm.
