Hagerstown, Md. - Urbana High School graduate, Alex Medrano, has recently announced his commitment to the Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team.

A 2013 graduate, Medrano played Holding midfielder for UHS. He helped the Hawks to three straight Regional Championships while making an appearance in the State Finals once. After graduating, Medrano took an opportunity in El Salvador with Alianza F.C. He would return to the states in 2014 and attended Frederick Community College. As a freshman with the Cougars, Medrano would score four goals and add 10 assists.

Medrano played club soccer  for F.C. Frederick and also competes at FISC on multiple teams.

"I picked Hagerstown because I feel it is the best fit for my soccer career and hopefully the next step for my future," quoted Medrano.

At HCC, Medrano will team up with Frederick County players, Andres Florez-Rico and Ab Zelaya. Montgomery County players, Santiago Alzate, DJ Mamo and Jeison Caballero join Alexis Torres from Delaware, Tico Witter from Pennsylvania and Nick Shirey from Maryland.

"Alex brings collegiate playing experience as well as international training habits," stated head coach Brandon Rethemeyer. "We look for Alex to step in right away and show his abilities wherever we need him. We feel with his maturity and experience he can be very versatile."
