Hawks Add Midfielder, DJ Mamo, for upcoming season

Hagerstown, Md. - Montgomery Blair senior, DJ Mamo, has recently announced his commitment to the Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team

Mamo, a captain for the Blazers, helped his team to 12-4-2 overall record in 2016. During his senior season he scored three goals and added six assists. He was a two-year varsity member at Montgomery Blair.

He has played club for D.C. Stoddert and ASA Blackhawks. With Stoddaert, his team was ranked #2 in Virginia, while his Blackhawks were ranked #6 in Maryland. He was the team captain and scoring leader for his club team. Mamo tallied 23 goals and seven assists during his two-year club career.

"I decided to attend HCC because I felt it was the type of team you can build a family off of," stated Mamo. "The team has a great coach and great players who seem very down to earch but very hard working. I felt like this is the type of team that could develop me to go to the next level."

At HCC, Mamo will team up with fellow Montgomery County players, Santiago Alzate and Jeison Caballero. Joining thm will be committed players, Alexis Torres from Delaware, Tico Witter from Pennsylvania and Andres Florez-Rico and Nick Shirey from Maryland.

"In talking to DJ, he has the right attitude, which is exciting to be a hear," stated head coach Brandon Rethemeyer. "He is very commited to working hard in order to help the team in anyway possible. Furthermore, he is focused on starting his schooling to get him the buisness degree he is looking for."
