All-Met Honorable Mention, Walter Saenz, set to join Hawks

Hagerstown, Md. - Meade High School senior, Walter Saenz, has recently announced his commitment to the Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team.

Sanez, a 2016 All-Met Honorable Mention selection ran the midfield for the Mustangs. Meade would finish 15-3-2 and would be named Anne Arundel County Champions after defeating Severna Park. He scored one goal and added 10 assists during the 2016 season.

In 2015, he helped the Mustangs to a 17-2-0 record and an appearance in the 4A State Finals. His team was ranked in the USA Today Top 20 in the Nation, while they also enjoyed an 11 game winning streak during the season.

"I chose HCC because the support the coaches give and how they believe in you and want the best for you as a player and as a student," quoted Saenz. "I believe HCC is a great place to start and I'm sure it will be a good first step in life."

At HCC, Saenz joins Frederick County players, Andres Florez-Rico. Alex Medrano and Ab Zelaya. Montgomery County players, Santiago Alzate, DJ Mamo and Jeison Caballero join Alexis Torres from Delaware, Tico Witter from Pennsylvania and Nick Shirey from Maryland.

"Walter possess tremendous technical ability that allows him to control the game," stated head coach Brandon Rethemeyer. "It was a goal of ours in the offseason to solidfy our midfield and we feel we are putting together one of the best in MDJUCO."
