Bel Air, Md.- The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team (10-10-0) had their season come to an end, after suffering a 5-0 defeat to 2012 Region XX, Division I Champion, CCBC-Essex. The Hawks opened the contest, garnering much of the control and gaining three quality opportunities in the first six minutes. Freshman Akheem Riley slotted a ball into classmate Jusseth Velazquez who saw his shot from eight yards out get saved by the Knights goalkeeper.
In the 9th minute, HCC goalkeeper Adam Carrier. would come up with a big diving save off a CCBC-Essex header, to keep the game at 0-0. The Knights would initiate the scoring in the 11th minute when a long free kick would be knocked down in the Hawk box and hammered home from eight yards out. Less than two minutes later the Knights would tally another goal when they beat a Hagerstown defender and dished the ball across the box for a tap in from six yards away.
HCC would be unable to mount an attack, and the Knights would extend their lead in the 29th minute. After a Hawk turnover, CCBC-Essex would place the ball in the upper left corner of the goal. Just three minutes later, the Knights would net their fourth goal in the first half when anothr free kick would be knocked down and put in the net past Carrier.
The second half would be controlled by CCBC-Essex, as the Hawks would only get off one shot. The Knights woud round out the game in the 88th minute when a breakaway opportunity would be scored.
Carrier finished with eight saves in the losing effort.
