Hagerstown Players Receive MDJUCO and NJCAA Awards

Hagerstown, Md.- The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team had five players rewarded for their outstanding play this year, by garnering MDJUCO and NJCAA Region XX Awards.

Freshman Jonah Smith was the only Hawk named to the All-MDJUCO team, as a second team member. Smith was also awarded First Team All-NJCAA Region XX. He lef HCC with 31 points, from 10 goals and 11 assists, while starting and playing in all 20 matches this year.

Freshman, Akheem Riley, earned First Team All-NJCAA Region XX honors. He started 19 of 20 games and was second on the team in points with 20. He recorded seven goals and six assists.

Freshman Jusseth Velazquez was named Second Team All-NJCAA Region XX after tallying eight goals and three assists for 19 points on the season.

Sophomore Adam Carrier started 18 of 20 matches in net for Hagerstown this year and 144 saves and four shutouts. He earned Second Team All-NJCAA Region XX honors, as well as making the NJCAA Region XX Division I All-Tournament Team.

Freshman Dillon Eyler started all 20 matches on defense for HCC and recorded one goal on the season in a loss to Montgomery-Rockville. He was named Second Team All-NJCAA Region XX, as well as making the NJCAA Region XX Division I All-Tournament Team.

"We are extremely proud of the players earning postseason honors this year," mentioned Head Coach Brian Eichelberger. "Having five players recognized for their hard work is really rewarding and the fact that four are freshman really makes us excited for their potential next season."
