Hagerstown, Md. - Freshman Akheem Riley tallied seven points on the afternoon from three goals and one assist to help Hagerstown Community College (4-2-0) defeat Allegany College of Maryland.
The Hawks jumped out to an early lead when freshman Jacob Hargett put away a pass from former high school teammate Leland Creadick in the 7th minute. Just eight minutes later, Riley would score his first goal on the afternoon after he received a pass from classmate Jonah Smith and slotted the ball past the diving keeper.
Riley would then return the favor to Smith when he played a ball into the box where Smith would cut the ball back from a defender and put his shot far post for his team-leading seventh goal. The Hawks would extend their lead to 4-0 when freshman Yusuf Bodirov took a pass from Smith and hammered his shot far post into the goal.
Hagerstown would control the tempo in the second half as well, as Bodirov curled a free kick from 20 yards out past the AC keeper in th 56th minute. Riley would then net back-to-back goals in the 60th and 72nd minutes respectively to cap off the 7-0 victory. Creadick would play a through ball to Riley who placed his shot near post for his second goal in the game and then Riley would display some individual skill to get him into the box and bend his shot past the diving Trojan goalkeeper to complete his hat trick.
HCC sophomore goalkeeper Adam Carrier would start the match, make one save and be credited with the shutout, while freshman Ethan Waters and sophomore Brandon Wingfield would split time in the second half.
Hagerstown returns to action on September 18 when they travel to MDJUCO Division III opponent Howard Community College at 4:00pm.
