WYE MILLS, Md. — The Hagerstown Community College Men's basketball team lost to Chesapeake College at a conference away game on Jan. 24 by a score of 55-70.

Raphael Castillo scored 13 points for the Hawks along with four rebounds. Jalen Freeman also scored 12 points, two steals, and two blocks.

Men's basketball assistant coach Ben Schlotter expressed some tough love after the loss.

"The guys played hard but, not as a team," said Schlotter. "We struggled offensively the whole game and during the second half, our defense began to struggle too."

As a result, the team currently stands 2-6 in the Maryland JUCO conference and 7-12 overall.

"This team had a lot of talent," said Schlotter. "When we play as a team, it showcases our talent."

Looking ahead, Schlotter outlined his thoughts to winning the upcoming game home against Central Penn College.

Schlotter said, "If we can play as a team and stay together for the full 40 minutes, we will not only beat Central Penn, but will still have a very successful season ending with at least a region title."

The men's team will play at home on Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. against Central Penn College.
