The Jim Brown Classic basketball invitational, traditionally played each year during the weekend following Thanksgiving, will be held on Saturday, November 30th and Sunday, December 1st at the ARCC on the campus of Hagerstown Community College.
Following his retirement in 2002, the traditional Thanksgiving tournament was named after Coach Jim Brown, HCC Athletic Director, Head ARCC Administrator, and Hawks Head Men's Basketball Coach, winning 517 games from 1979-2002.
Hosted by HCC, this invitational classic has provided out-of-conference game opportunities early in the basketball season, and has been structured in various ways in past years, based upon the number of men's and women's teams participating.
This year the Hawks men's team will face competition from the County College of Morris (Randolph, NJ,) Monroe College (New Rochelle, NY,) and Allegany College of Maryland (Cumberland, MD,) to round out the men's competition for the weekend.
Saturday's game lineup includes a 1:00 p.m. matchup between Hawks Men's Basketball vs. the Monroe Mustangs, with the Allegany College Trojans playing the County College of Morris Titans at 3:00 p.m.
Sunday's games start at 1:00 p.m. with the Allegany College Trojans playing the Monroe Mustangs, followed by a 3:00 p.m. matchup between the Hawks and County College of Morris Trojans.
