On Wednesday, December 12th the Hawks hosted Harford Community College in the last game before winter break. Harford stepped onto Coach Jim Browns court with an undefeated conference record (5-0), Hagerstown (0-5). These two teams left everything on the court.
In the first half both teams were neck and neck until the halftime buzzard. Twenty minutes of fast paced basketball with both teams playing strong defense. Harford ended the first half with 3 more offensive rebounds and 4 less turnover than the Hawks. It was small opportunities like these that made the difference in the first half. At (7:53) left in the first half Hagerstown led (5-12) against the Fighting Owls. Kyshon Tate, Jamichael Smart, Tyrin Hollis, and Malcolm Moye worked together to secure defensive rebounds and patient offensive sets. The lead changed back and forth two times until there was four minutes left to play in the first half. Harford took off by capitalizing at the free throw line and penetrating Hagerstown defense in the paint. Harford led (38-27) at halftime.
Hagerstown remained within a 10 point margin verses the Owls until there were six minutes left to play. The Hawks were forced late in the game to foul which gave Harford many opportunities to increase their lead. Harford took the victory over Hagerstown (87-64), Final.
