Hawks split with Owls in MDJUCO doubleheader

LARGO, Md. — Brock Smith (5-1) picked up his fifth win of the season, tossing five innings with four strikeouts, and Hagerstown Community College scored seven runs in the fourth to beat Prince George's in the opener of a Maryland JUCO doubleheader split Tuesday.

In the opener, Andrew Mathias had three hits and an RBI, Robbie Houck had two hits, including a homer, and two RBIs and Josh Menders and Spencer Martin each had two hits and two RBIs.

In the second game, Hagerstown led 1-0 before Prince George's rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Houck had two hits and Menders had an RBI for the Hawks (33-14, 17-3).
