HCC scores 30 runs in 2-win day in Florida

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Hagerstown Community College's bats exploded for 30 runs Thursday as the Hawks defeated Penn State Beaver 13-3 and Trinity International 17-5.

Against Penn State Beaver, Justin Smith had four hits, including two triples and a double, and drove in three runs to lead the Hawks (10-3), who had 16 hits in the game.

Geraghty Showe had three hits and two RBIs, Quin Ambeault had two hits and three RBIs, Matt Kline had two hits and an RBI and Colby Byers had two RBIs in the win.

Against Trinity International (Illinois), the Hawks scored 14 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to rally.

Sinjin Shoop, Kline and Showe had three hits and three RBIs each, Smith hit a three-run homer and Byers (2-1) picked up the win on the mound.
